On Persecution and Fighting Back

1st Samuel 17:34-37
David said, "I've been a shepherd, tending sheep for my father. Whenever a lion or bear came and took a lamb from the flock, I'd go after it, knock it down, and rescue the lamb. If it turned on me, I'd grab it by the throat, wring its neck, and kill it. Lion or bear, it made no difference—I killed it. And I'll do the same to this Philistine pig who is taunting the troops of God-Alive. God, who delivered me from the teeth of the lion and the claws of the bear, will deliver me from this Philistine."

Saul said, "Go. And God help you!"

I want to point something out right quick. Everyone is familiar with the story of David and Goliath. Even if you don't go to a church, you have probably heard about it somewhere in Pop culture, be it a reference in a movie, or on television.  But there's something more to the story.

Yes, David killed Goliath, but look at this. David says "Lion Or Bear, it made no difference-I killed it. And I'll do the same to this Philistine Pig who is taunting the troops of God-Alive."

David was angry! He was angry that this 'pig' was mocking who he knew to be the only Living God. So often in todays world, our God is mocked, by the media, by our friends, by our family, and we just sit there and take it. I'm not saying to go out, get five rocks and kill anyone who blasphemes against God, but you can't just sit there and take it. Stand up for yourself, stand up for your beliefs. Stand up for Your God.
